This month, we want to take you behind the scenes of our daily work, into that fascinating realm where graphic design meets material and becomes a real object.

From file to form: the art of transformation
When a graphic design project arrives in our hands, a fundamental phase begins: the one in which the design takes shape through the production process.
It all starts with pre-press, where files are carefully checked and prepared: technical control, color management, correct setting of graphic elements. This is where the conditions are created to ensure that the final result is faithful to the design idea.
Then printing comes into play, the moment when color, paper, and technology come together. Color rendering, register accuracy, and consistency between design and result are the fruit of technical expertise and constant monitoring throughout the process.

The “hidden” value of doing
Cutting, folding, binding, and finishing are steps that require skill, attention, and coordination.
Each phase involves:
• experience in interpreting the project’s requirements
• continuous dialogue between graphic design and production
• attention to details that really make a difference
The binding that allows a book to open naturally is the result of technical precision and experience. The cellophane wrapping that protects a catalog ensures that it arrives in perfect condition in the hands of the recipient.
These are details that are often overlooked, but which determine the final quality.

Craftsmanship and industrial capacity
The culture of doing is accompanied by a large-scale production structure.
Every year, Grafiche Antiga produces millions of printed items that go through all stages of the process, from pre-press to printing and finishing.
This translates into concrete numbers:
75 million sheets printed
95,000 images processed
70,000 quintals of paper processed
A production capacity that reflects the industrial scale of the company.
Productive time
In an increasingly fast-paced environment, dedicating the right amount of time to production is not a luxury: it is what allows a printed product to be truly well made.
The time invested in pre-press and printing, in adjusting a fold, in checking the binding or in verifying the finishes translates into:
• better visual and tactile rendering
• longer product life
• higher perceived value
The culture of doing
Even in the digital age, the value of a printed object remains unique.
Leafing through, touching, preserving: these are experiences that only printing can offer.
That’s why we continue to invest in skills, technologies, and above all in the people who transform ideas into concrete objects every day.
If you are working on a publication, catalog, or printed project, we would be happy to discuss it with you.
